Show Instructive talk given by doctor Alpha Beta Club members were entertained at the home of Mrs. S. Thomas Smith at the final meeting of the year with other officers, Mrs. Emil Ostlund, Mrs. W. W. Brock-bank, Brock-bank, Mrs. Harmon Hatch and Mrs. Earl Goates, assisting. Dr. Robert H. Nightingale was the speaker, talking on heart disease. He said that most infectious diseases were now under control and those not yet under control, were those resulting from living longer. He explained that recent re-cent research shows some connection con-nection between heart disease and diet and that heart disease is also the result of the way one eats and lives and the modern day stress and strain. He told how wives might help their husbands by watching watch-ing their diets, eliminating animal an-imal fat from meals, keeping their weight down, stressing regular exercise for them and watching their blood pressure. The ladies asked a number of questions at the close of the talk, and they were answered by the doctor. A quartet composed of Susan Su-san Biesinger, Evelyn Webb, Pattea Hoover and Clara Pace entertained with instrumental music during the lunch. The club will hold a spring luncheon May 7, at 1 p.m., at Riverside Country Club, to conclude con-clude the year's program. Mrs. Barbara K. Graber and children Kelly, David and Lisa came from Orinda, Calif., for the Easter vacation to visit her grandmother, Mrs. Maud Roy-lance Roy-lance and other relatives and friends in .Springville and especially es-pecially to go skiing. Tuesday, they enjoyed a trip to Park City and planned to try other Utah Ski sites before returning. return-ing. Grant Roylance, a cousin of Mrs. Graber, who is attending attend-ing school at Napa, Calif., accompanied ac-companied them to Springville and is visitng his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Roylance. |
