Show University head to address teachers' meet Dr. James Chipman Fletcher recently appointed President of the University of Utah, will be the guest speaker at the Nebo School District General Institute Insti-tute to be held at the Spanish Fork High School Auditorium, August 26 at 9:00 a.m. it was announced Tuesday by Superintendent Super-intendent Russell N. Stansfield. The Institute will follow two days of principals' meetings, course changes, secondary registration reg-istration programs and regis- I tration of all elementary students stu-dents in the District, the Superintendent Su-perintendent said. President Fletcher, eighth president of the University of Utah, was born June 5, 1919, in Maplewood, New Jersey. He attended BYU two years and graduated from Columbia University Uni-versity with a B.S. degree in 1940. He received his Ph.D. degree in 1948. His experience as a teacher, research physicist, physi-cist, missile specialist and director di-rector of space laboratory programs pro-grams has given him a tremendous tre-mendous background for his new position as president of one of Utah's fine universities. Dr. Fletcher has served and is still serving on numerous committees which direct and assess various aspects of America's space program. He is married to the former Fay Lee, a native of Brigham City. They have four children. |
