Show Senior Citizens return from 1400-mile tour A total of 78 people returned Monday evening from a 1400-mile 1400-mile 5-day bus tour under the sponsorship of the Springville Senior Citizens organization, directed by A. I. Tippetts. Among those taking the trip were couples from Provo Or-em, Or-em, Murray, Payson, Spanish Fork, Salt Lake City and Springville with approximately fifty from this city. They traveled as far south as Gallup, N. M., to attend the annual Indian ceremonial Friday Fri-day evening and parade Saturday, Sat-urday, in which some 16 tribes from all parts of the United States participated. Enroute they stopped at Arches National Na-tional Monument, stayed overnight over-night at Cortez, Colo., and spent the forenoon at Mesa Verde Park. Enroute to Flag-staf, Flag-staf, Arizona, they enjoyed a view of the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest areas. After the night at Flagstaff, they visited the dam at Page, Ariz. A boat trip on Lake Powell was among the many enjoyable features of the tour. The last night was spent at Zions Park where the group enjoyed a program in the evening preceded pre-ceded by a ,chuck wagon supper sup-per at the beautiful amphitheater amphi-theater named after James Wardle of Springville, at Glen-dale. Glen-dale. Enroute home, the group enjoyed picnic dinner at Cedar Ce-dar Breaks and returned by way of scenic Parawan Canyon. Can-yon. The tour was the 6th long trip sponsored by the Springville Spring-ville Senior Citizens Organization, Organiza-tion, which has already an- nounced another for the Rose Parade in January. . Other shorter trips and outings are planned in addition to the Wednesday afternoon socials and Friday night dances each week. |
