Show Businesses f begin Sunday closing Utah County grocers, drugstore drug-store operators and many other oth-er businessmen close their places of business on Sunday, beginning August 9. The Sunday Sun-day closing observance was brought about by united effort ef-fort and cooperation by the civic, community, religious, and governmental leaders, and the merchants of Utah County, Coun-ty, according to Walter P. Eg- gett, American Fork grocer and president of the Utah County Retail Grocers Association. Asso-ciation. "Since many of our grecery stores have been open on Sunday, Sun-day, our organization was asked to spearhead the movement move-ment support the community interest to bring about Sunday Sun-day closing," Mr. Eggett said. "The idea behind the Sunday closing," he stated, "is to give employees the opportunity to spend Sundays with their families and also to make the day as free from commercial activities as possible." "The civic, religious and governmental leaders of Utah County have taken a very personal interest in Sunday closing and were greatly responsible re-sponsible for bringing it about," Mr. Eggett said. "We are pleased that the merchants willingly and enthusiastically accepted and promoted the idea of Sunday closing. We certainly hope other merchants will soon join the. food and drugstore operators to observe Sunday closing," he said. - The free enterprise system allows businessmen to choose their own hours and days of operation.
