Show Personal income shows increase in Utah to date Personal income in Utah during 1964's first quarter totaled to-taled $525 million, an increase of $20 million over 1963's figure, fig-ure, and further increases are expected in the second quarter. That is the report of First Security Bank's quarterly Newsletter which will be distributed dis-tributed this week. With the decrease in the withholding tax, the increase in take-home pay of TJtahns is expected to be $4.4 million a month, First Security reports. Anticipated cash receipts from farming in Utah in 1964 may be somewhat lower than the total of $164.6 million reported re-ported for 1963. This results principally through lower prices pric-es or livestock in the first quarter of the year. First Security says that the Utah farm plantings in 1964 should, total 1.1 million acres, or more approximately the same as in 1963. "Most of Utah's mineral industries in-dustries report some improvement improve-ment resulting from increased regional and national demand," the Newsletter reports. Department store sales in Utah's major cities for 1964's first two months were from 5 to 7 percent above 1963 totals. to-tals. Total nonagricultural employment em-ployment in the state during mid-March was 289,400, up 1.8 percent over the figure a year ago. Unemployment, however, was somewhat higher than a year ago. Bank loans of reporting Federal Reserve member banks totaled $649 million at the end of February, an increase of 10. 8 percent above the figure a year earlier. Time and savings deposits, at $481 million, had increased 7.8 percent over the total a year earlier. |
