Show High school classes select art queens; I many events planned for art month The high school's 40th annual annu-al national art exhibit continues con-tinues to be the center of attraction at-traction this month for local and out of town people, with crowds registering daily. Also numerous functions are planned for the remainder of the month at the gallery, as community interest and activity ac-tivity centers around the April art show. A highlight of club visiting groups will be that of the Ki- wanis Club tonight at 7 p.m. Attorney Robert Sumsion will be toastmaster for the ladies' night tour to which other Ki-wanis Ki-wanis Clubs in the area have been invited. Saturday afternoon, members mem-bers of the ladies' federated clubs from over the state, have been bidden to the gallery to see the paintings during the annual Art Tea, from 2 until 5 p.m. Practically every federated club as well as social organization organiza-tion in the town has scheduled sched-uled at least one night to visit the art showing. Many groups from out-of-town are also planning tours. Suggestions In connection with the new art organization effected this year, plans are underway, also, to enroll new members in the art association. There are several sev-eral types of memberships available and a committee headed by Harrison Conover, hopes to get the entire corn- munity interested in some type of membership. A meeting of all members of the association is planned for April 30, at which time, two new board members will be elected. George Biid, chairman of the nominating committee has set a meeting for 6 p.m., at the bank on April 18, to go over names already suggested as prospective members. Also, there is a question box at the gallery, where names might be placed. Another function and one of the -most important on the April Art calendar, is the dedication ded-ication banquet Saturday, April Ap-ril 25, for the new portion of the art gallery, being donated by the Clyde Foundation. Reservations for this function func-tion must be submitted not later than April 18, 6 p.m., to Howard Maycock, chairman. |
