Show Aerial survey of big game now being made The annual winter aerial survey sur-vey of Utah's big game is .continuing .con-tinuing as snow cover and flying fly-ing conditions permit. Clear, calm weather following follow-ing a relatively heavy snow storm are the required ingredients ingred-ients for ideal survey conditions condi-tions from the air. Snow cover and wintering conditions for big game on areas ar-eas flown to date show an improvement im-provement over recent years. Pilots and field personnel flying fly-ing the surveys report a better snow cover with the animals observed in good condition. Completion of the elk herd surveys on the Mt. Dutton, Salt Lake, Ogden River, Bear River, Cache, North Ogden, Eeaston, Whiterocks, Vernal, and Daggett herd wintering areas ar-eas leaves 7 of these units yet to be covered. Department of' Fish and Game planes and pilots headquartered head-quartered at Price and Salt Lake City are taking part in the work with Department field personnel in each herd area ar-ea acting as observers during these flights. Animal numbers, condition, herd concentrations on winter range and other factors are among the important informa- tion gained from these annual surveys. It is summarized following fol-lowing completion of the program, pro-gram, then used in setting future fu-ture management and hunting programs for the herds. Do you own a vacation home where you'd like to have plenty plen-ty of flowers with little work? Order nasturtium seeds now, both the dwarf and the tali form. Dwarf nasturtiums will make a gay carpet wherever you need one. Tall nasturtiums, which are vines, will cover fences or walls in short order. Just clear the spot where you want nasturtiums to grow and scatter the seeds over it. In Utah communities Red Cross Chapters assisted 4,152 military men or their families. |
