FIREWOOD USE INCREASES -SUPPLY G00D KENT TAYLOR Supervisor Fish Lake Forest "Historically, the Forest Service has made firewood permits available to the public pub-lic at no charge. The program pro-gram provided a service which did not create much of an impact on a Rangers time as the number of perm its was relatively small. The situation situ-ation has changed dramatically dramat-ically In the past few years as a result of escalating fuel costs. The volume of firewood fire-wood removed from the forest for-est doubled In 1979 over 1978. Some 15,000 cords of firewood was removed last year.
