Show Uan Tossell elected to ABO Committee Gail D. Van Tassell, well known Beaver County farm -er, was elected to the county Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation CASC) Committee in the recent election. Two hundred and thirty' voters cast ballots in the election, i McCoy Williams and Lyle Wiseman were elected as first and second alternates alter-nates to the committee for one year terms. Duane Yardley, present chairman of the Committee, was not a candidate this year. He has served the farmers of Beaver County for nine years, which is the maxi- mum length of time a person per-son may hold office. Mr. Yardley has served faithfully faith-fully in representing all the farmers in the programs administered by ASC. Mr. Van Tassell, new member of the county committee, com-mittee, is from Milford. He and his wife, E.lva, own and operate about 900 acres of irrigated cropland. This is one of the larger pump well irrigated farms on the Milford Mil-ford Flat. The major part of the farm is devoted to the production of alfalfa. The only stationary cubing installation in-stallation in the county is utilized to cube the alfalfa produced for sale and use on the farm. Other crops-grown crops-grown are barley, wheat and corn. Their operation also .includes .in-cludes a beef cow-calf operation. oper-ation. The Van Tassell's own pastureland in Duchesne County, where they resided prior to moving to Milford, some 20 years ago. The cattle are trucked to these pastures for summer grazing. Mr. Williams owns and operates an alfalfa and grain producing farm on the Milford Mil-ford flat. He also served as an alternate to the com -mittee in 1976. Mr. Wiseman, with his two sons, Scott and Jeff, operate the largest irrigated farm in the county. The land is also on the Milford flat. Alfalfa is their major crop. They cube their hay in the field for local and export markets. In. addition, they grow a substantial acreage of wheat |
