Show FOREST SERVICE DISTRIBUTES $225 MILLION Counties in southern Idaho, Nevada, Utah, western Colorado, Colo-rado, western Wyoming, and eastern California containing contain-ing Inter mountain Region National Forests are to receive re-ceive $6,166,122.98 as their share of revenues from the sale and use of natonal for -est products and services during fiscal year 1977. The funds are part of nearly $225 million distributed to 39 states and Puerto Rico. Secretary of Agriculture Bob Bergland said the $224,-' $224,-' 576,711.05 being returned to the states represents 25 percent per-cent of the more than $896 million collected by the Forest For-est Service from the sale of timber, and from grazing, recreation, minerals, and other land use charges on national forests. By law, 25 percent of those receipts are returned to the states where national forests are located to be used for public schools and roads. The remainder, with certain exceptions provided pro-vided by law, goes to the UJ3. Treasury. |
