Show team and I'd hate to get those' loud mouths down on him. Name withheld by request EDITOR'S NOTE: As one who spends each game on the sidelines with a camera, I know that the first qualification qualifi-cation is that you must keep your mouth shut. Even team members are supposed to be three feet from the field. Only the coach is allowed closer and to speak to the players. We lost a state tournament last year because be-cause of a referee call on on the bench. That particular call was not legitimate, but there is little question that there are few Milford ballgames that could not receive the referees' ref-erees' rath. From comment on the street, as well as the other letter to the COUNTY NEWS in this issue, that fans have all they want of this type of individual. "Red" Dear Ed. I am continually appalled at the action of so-called fans at MHS athletic events. Milford must have the worst sports fans in the world. A small minority think they must urn the side lines, screaming epithets at the team, on every play, and blocking the view of spectators spec-tators in the stands. The invectives hurled at these innocent ears, range from the great "put down" to "my hero", depending upon how the last play progressed. pro-gressed. Four -letter words are common place. The most appalling thing is that these obnoxious individuals in-dividuals are members and officers of the MHS Boosters. These great sportsmen and women, if a pass is dropped, a tackle missed or a play scrambled, accuse the players of everything from being pansies to not wanting to play. They hurl uncalled for advice to coach and team, serving only to confuse, and interfer, with the game. Should a referee be so foolish as to come into earshot ear-shot of this bunch, he's at-'' tacked both physically and verbally, until he must definitely def-initely be prejudiced against Milford. How many 5-10-15 yard penalties against Milford Mil-ford really belong to MHS Boosters? And when a player loses his cool, as one did at the end of the game Friday -night should the blame be his or go to those who screamed and hollared for him to do that, and more, through much of the game. My husband and I joined this newly formed MHS Booster club. We were happy to give our ten dollars. Now we have second thoughts about it. I suggest that if the Booster Boost-er Club really wants to help, they get back on the bench with the real fans and supporters sup-porters and leave the coaching coach-ing and playing to Coach Lee and the team. If they cannot control their language and conduct, they should be evicted from the game. Since I have a boy on the team and other children in school, I request that you withhold my name so that they will not suffer from the consequences of this letter. I know that most parents and the real fans of Milford High School agree with me. Name Withheld by request Dear Red, Didn't get the News until this morning am I too late for your special subscription subscrip-tion rate? We have watched the empty space for Beaver County at the State Fair for many years. Happy that somebody had the "get up and go" to do something about it. Sincerely, Vic Carlson Ogden, Utah Dear Editor: Would you please print the accompanying item in the paper. Thank you. We really enjoy the paper and want to continue another year. You are doing a beautiful beau-tiful job. I get so homesick I could die. So the paper helps me a great deal. Thank you. Our love to all at home. Mamie Robinson and family Orange Park, Florida Dear Sir: Governor Rampton is showing his true Democrat philosophy in the waning days of his reign To hell with the voter and taxpayer! What dp they know about running a bureaucracy? h his determined effort to show the Utah taxpayers who is boss, he appears before be-fore the annual Convention of the Utah League of Cities and Towns, to denounce the November 2, ballot proposition proposi-tion proposing to put a lid on the State budget and do away with federal aid. In true bureaucratic style Calvin Rampton gives the usual veiled threat of reduced re-duced essential government services, such as highways, roads, police protection etc. Nary a word did he speak regarding effeciency in government. If free enterprise enter-prise was run like government govern-ment it would soon be bankrupt, bank-rupt, and the system that buys the golden egg of taxes for the bureaucrats to spend would be no more. ! j Dear Red: For two ballgames in a 1 row now, I have had to stand ! by while some of the Male Fans carried on like idiots. For their information, there isn't ONE boy on that football field that is a dumb, stupid SOB Everyone of those young men should be commended for their cour age and desire to even participate. par-ticipate. Anyone with any smarts at all has to know to begin with, because of the size of our school we are at a disadvantage. We have a new, young coach and a young ball team why cant you give them a chance I'm sure they are both doing their best. Inci dentally, the ones with the biggest mouths with the most criticisms never did anything worthwhile themselves and never had a son who did. If you have to go to the ballgames, support the boys or keep your mouths shut. I'd sign this letter, Red, but I have a son on the ball |
