Show COMPLAINTS INVESTIGATED: Milford Playground Being Supervised? Mrs. Gary Potter met with the school Board and complained com-plained that there was not adequate playground supervision super-vision at the Milford Elementary Ele-mentary School. She said that she had driven around the grounds many times without seeing a teacher on the grounds. She told the Board of incidents that had happened happen-ed to her children on the school grounds that she felt would not have occured If the grounds were being properly prop-erly supervised. Mrs. Potter said that the school lunch at the Mllford Elementary School was not cooked right. She said that she objected to the ticket discount system used in the district and she presented a petition signed by 38 people asking that students be able to use discounted tickets for meals after the week In which they are sold. Superintendent Haslum told Mrs. Potter that teachers teach-ers are assigned to supervise super-vise the playground and he would double check to make sure the persons assigned are doing their job. He also informed her that he would see what could be done about the school lunch tickets, but would expect that If the discount dis-count were discontinued that a price Increase of at least 5? would probably be necessary. neces-sary. The Board instructed the Superintendent to study the matter andrep6rt at the next Board meeting. The Board discussed the poor custodial services at the Mlnersvllle School since the church is using the building. build-ing. It was thought that part of the problem was that the school custodian and a church custodian were both involved in the cleaning of the building and as a result a poor job was being done. It was moved that the Superintendent Su-perintendent notify the church at Mlnersvllle that at mid-term the church is to terminate its custodian and the school custodian will take over all custodial services. A request from Beaver City Council that the school district light the street on 1st East to aid in the parking park-ing for the gymnasium was considered along with the City Council's request that the Board oil the portion of the road between the sidewalk side-walk and the hardtop road. The Board agreed that the road will be oiled from the sidewalk t o the oiled road surface, however, It did not feel responsible to light the road east of the high school. The Board denied a request re-quest by Principal Horlacher Horlach-er that the Board approve a sophomore basketball tournament to be held at Mllford Mll-ford High School. The basketball bas-ketball season was discussed. dis-cussed. John Jones and Junior Davis Da-vis met with the Board in relation to their positions as custodians at Mllford High School. They would like to have some days off without firing the furnace. The Board reviewed the custodian's problems and asked the Superintendent to work with the principals and custodians on scheduling of work as the Board felt that the problem could be corrected cor-rected by the proper scheduling sche-duling of time, but that additional ad-ditional staff is not to be hired at this time. Alfred Marshall, Mar-shall, of BHS, met with the Board about the problem of students who are habitual In not attending school. He asked ask-ed that the district adopt an attendance policy that would legally guide him as a principal prin-cipal with those students. Supt. Haslem told the Board that Principal Horlacher of MHS had also expressed a desire to have a policy for dealing with students who are continually absent from school. The Board moved that the attendance policy as proposed pro-posed by the Superintendent be adopted In general form.
