Show City Named Defendent In $5,000.00 Lawsuit E. L. Smith presented the Mayor and City Council with a letter from people who had been given parking tickets for parking in the red behind business busi-ness houses on Railroad Ave. and recommended that the city consider changing the red zones, to yellow (loading) zones along that street, so that they may be used for parking after hours. A letter was read from Hans Chamberlain, attorney for . the airplane rental firm who owns the plane that crashed on the Milford airport runway, while it was under repair. A blown tine was indicated at the time as the cause of the crash. The letter informed council that a law suit in the amount of $5,000 had been filed against the city for negligence. City fathers felt that since the accident was obviously the cause of the faulty faul-ty tire, they had no liability. Recorder Nadine Jones reported re-ported that the state had agreea to additional funds of $2,573 to complete the cost of resurfacing resur-facing the airport. Adoptee! a recommendation of the Milford Businessmen's Association, asking that the Delta Stage Lines, request and apply for a franchise to transport trans-port passengers and freight between be-tween Cedar City and Salt Lake in order to receive the support of Milford. The Stage line had indicated that they wanted a franchise between Milford and Salt Lake, but that the Milford to Delta run would have to be self sustaining. |
