Tigers-Kanab Tie 18-18; Parowan Foe Friday Milford fans who traveled all the way to Kanab last Friday for a championship ballgame, got their wish, but the winner still hasn't been decided, and it won't be until October 29 when the Cowboys come to Milford. The Tigers and the Cowboys played to an 18-18 tie in a test of speed and deceptiveness against- a much bigger, and determined de-termined Tiger team. The Tigers drew first blood in the first quarter when Edwards Ed-wards went over for a TD on a quarterback sneak. But ' that makes it too simple. Milford kicked off, but intercepted a Kanab pass on their first play from scrimmage. In turn they lost the ball to Kanab on a fumble on their first play and regained it when Kanab fumbled fum-bled on their second play from scrimrvige. This indicates how uptight both teams were. After Milford's first TD with nearly seven minutes left in the first quarter, the defense took over, and neither team was able to move the ball for significant gain until Kanab's Houston passed to his big right end with 5.9 minutes left in the 2nd buarter for Kanab's first TD. Kanab tried a kick for the extra point which was no good. Kanab held the Tigers, and forced a punt in four downs. Ramsay run the punt back to the Milford 15 and Kanab was on the move again. Houston passed to Ramsey who was run out of bounds at the seven and the Fullback drove through the middle for a 1st and goal on the one foot line. On the next play they pushed it over and the score was 12-6 with 4.9 minutes left in the first half. The defense took over again and the half ended with Kanab leading 12-6. ( In the second half Cook took the kickoff and returned it to the Milford 38 yard line. The determined Tigers settled down to serious, football and in fourteen four-teen plays went over from the 1 foot line on a 1st down with a quarterback sneak to tie the ballgame at 12-12. Milford was off side on the kickoff and had to kick over. Kanab returned the ball to the 40 and on the first play from scrimmage, with an, off tackle ply. went 60 yards for a Kanab Ka-nab TD. Kanab led again, 18-12 The rest of the quarter was give and ke until Milford's Hanley ;' trcepted a blocked pass to "ive Milford the ball on the Kanab 28 yard line. Albrecht and Cook each picked up yardage and Cook with his best run of the day went to the Kanab 8 for a first and goal. The Cowboys held and on fourth down, Cook passed to Elmer and it was intercepted in-tercepted by Ramsey. He run it out to the 20 and Kanab fumbled on their first play. Milford took over on the 18 and in five plays, Albrecht went over for the TD from the 5 yard line to end the Scorinc. Neither team was able to score an extra point. Milford had 40 yards in pfraltis, Ka-rb Ka-rb 25. Milford had 15 first downs and their total offense was 218 yards. -jj "ST f "ti'iiii , .
