Show AN EDITORIAL I hadn't intended to comment on last week's editorial edit-orial but after three or four hostile telephone calls from the east end of the county, we feel compelled to make a few statements. First, there was no attempt to divide the county or to bring on school consolidaton, as the callers indicated. The editorial was an attempt to point out what we considered con-sidered to be poor officiating at the football game. Not wanting to cast any aspersions on officials as a whole, we named the officials in doubt. There were no reflections, either on Beaver City or Beaver High Slhool And unless the callers have guilt complexes, or know something we don't they drew conclusions, con-clusions, not in evidence. It is strange that these same people, who are so certain cer-tain that my facts and research, which in most cases is much more extensive than their own, has led me to the wrong conclusion, while they are certain that their own conclusions are right. Our education did not Ibegin, nor will it end in Beaver County. And since there is no length of residence required re-quired for forming or expressing opinions, we reserve the right to express our opinions on any and all subjects-And subjects-And we will do so, despite, threats of embarrassment and economic recrimination. We invite those who agree, and those who disagree with our editorials or any controversy in the county, to express their opinions in our Letters to the Editor column- We require that they do, as we do, sign their name. In our news column, we attempt to provide facts, news, and progress on all county business, as it becomes be-comes available. We have the utmost faith in the people of Beaver County, and the country, to make the right decisions, de-cisions, when presented the both sides of a controversy We also believe, that those in a position to do so will be less likely to deal from the bottom of the deck, when they are aware that a free and conscientious press is watching, and reporting. There are those in every city, county and every governing gov-erning body, who will deal behind closed doors, while on the surface, sing a different tune. We are proud not to be included in this group. And we will fight them at every turn. "Red" |
