Show Milt Pool says Christmas isn't like it used to be. He tells a story about when Herb Coon was a little tyke, and large displays dis-plays of toys were not a common com-mon sight, but were only in the stores on Christmas. Seems th,at on this particular Thanksgiving, Milt and his help had worked diligently way into the night putting out all of the Christmas toys and merchandise, merchan-dise, in the Penney's Store that Milt managed at that time. Everything was in readiness when Milt opened the doors the next morning. About the first to enter the store the next morning was little Herb Coon. He walked in and looked things over for just a minute and said, "He's Been! He's Been! He's Been!" and out the door he went. But it wasn't but just a few minutes until he was back with all of his young friends to give the merchandise a thorough looking over. o An ommission from the basketball bas-ketball story last week was Robert Albrecht as a member of the Milford team. Sorry Bob. o We've managed to work our way through the leftover turkey tur-key and if we adhere to a strict diet of nothing, we may be back to normal by the end of the week. What started out as a day of rest, (Donna let me sleep in until 9:30) soon turned intoi a workday, as we attempted to catch up on a few things around the house that have been neglected these past few months. o . From the feel of the temperature temper-ature of the past few mornings I guess we better ba getting our storm windows up. It's been right crisp. Our boys are sure looking forward to enough snow, so that they can get in some sledding sled-ding this year. We left Wisconsin Wis-consin before they were old enough to remember snow and the slush out on the coast generally gen-erally didn't last long enough to be of any use. If we don't get some of that white stuff in Milford pretty soon, guess we will have to take them to Brianhead. Close to 60 inches being reported there. Bob Price is fancying up one of our display windows with a rock display. Going to look real snappy, so stop in and see it. What is on display is from Bob and his wife's "little house" the nearest thing to a museum there is in Milford. They have lots of artifacts, antiques and a huge collection of rocks, many of them which have been polished, and worked work-ed by Bob into beautiful pieces of art and jewelry. Bob does his own silver work for his jewelry as well as polishing the stones. They are extremely cooperative co-operative about showing their "little house" to those who are interested in this type of thing. If you haven't seen it already, I suggest you make it a must on your list of things to do Ln Milford. A thing of prime importance which concerns, directly or indirectly, in-directly, every citizen of Beaver Beav-er County is the public hearing on the Zoning of the interchanges inter-changes at Beaver City, which is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Fri-day, Nov. 4th at the Courthouse Court-house in Beaver. We believe that both sides of every argument should be heard, and the Commissioners have set this date to hear all wht have something to say on the subject. This newspaper has come out in favor of rezoning these two areas for commercial development, develop-ment, on the basis that it is for the good of everybody in the county. We believe, that in the long run it will prove beneficial bene-ficial even to those who are so violently opposed at this time. We believe also that you, as a taxpayer, and citizen of Beaver Beav-er County should take this opportunity, op-portunity, given you by the county commission to argue and defend what you believe. We ask that you attend the meeting on Friday night and have your say, whether pro or con. |
