Show RED CROSS LADIES NEED ITEMS TO FILL DITTY BAGS It's 'Ditty Bag Time' again." Mrs. Dorothy Kizer, chairman chair-man of the Red Cross Ditty Bag program, this week issued a call for items with which to fill the little bags which will be sent to servicemen and women overseas. Each year the local Red Cross ladies sew the bags, and after filling them with needed items, mail them in time to be received by the military personnel per-sonnel just before Christmas. Articles for the bags may be left at the home of Mrs. Kizer, or phone 387-2202 and arrangements arrange-ments will be made for pickups. pick-ups. Most popular items are ballpoint ball-point pins, pen-sized flashlights flash-lights with batteries, small pen knives, windproof cigaret lighters light-ers with flints, plastic soap case, small packages of writing writ-ing paper, address book, plastic toothbrush holder, wadh cloths, nail clippers, plastic cigaret cases, combs, small tins of nuts or candies, plastic sandwich sand-wich bags, "wipe and shine" packet shoe polish, pocket games, playing cards, etc. Items not desired are gifts in breakable containers, food packed in non-vacuum containers, con-tainers, medicants (including foot powder and insect repell-ant) repell-ant) , alcoholic beverages. |
