Show BOY SCOUTS, PLAN :ONSERVATION CAMPOREE A council-wide Conservation Camporee for all Boy Scout troops in the National Parks Council, Boy Scouts of America, Amer-ica, will be held at Lost Camp in Southern Utah, according to Faul Turner, Richfield, council coun-cil field director. The event will have conservation conser-vation as its theme, and those attending will assist with falling, cutting and stacking more than 100 old quaking aspen trees, making the camp safer for the summer campers. The conservation activities will be held on Saturday morning, Sept. 28, from 9 to 12:30. Friday evening and Saturday Sat-urday after the project, troops are on their own to plan their own programs. Since distance is a factor for many troops in the council, they were urged to camp out on Friday evening somewhere between their homes and the camp, so they could be at the camp on Saturday. Sat-urday. The camporee fee is 50c per Scout. Camporee patches and ribbons will be awarded to participating troops and Scouts. Dads were urged to attend this camping event with their Scout sons. Troops attending will furnish fur-nish their own camping, cooking cook-ing and sleeping equipment, and provide thier own food. Leaders were cautioned about using trucks to haul Scouts. Scouts should be . transported only in automobiles, busses, or the cabs of trucks. ; The camp is located 12 miles south of Panguitch Lake, eighl miles east of Cedar Breaks National Na-tional Monument. Leaders not familiar with the area should watch for signs along Mammoth Mam-moth Creek. Leaders desiring further information in-formation should contact Mr. Turner. |
