Show HOW TO STOP INFLATION Inflation hits everyone right where it hurts the most in the pocketbook. There are two proposals to help control inflation: Increase tax rates, both individual and corporate, to siphon off sufficient funds to slow down consumer purchasing; pur-chasing; or, put the brakes on the government domestic spending programs. Opinion Research Corporation of Princeton, N. J., polled Mr. and Mrs. Householder on their preferred solution. solu-tion. This just completed national survey showed that, given the choice, 71 were in favor of cutting government govern-ment spending and only 7 favor tax increases as a means of controlling inilation. The survey also showed that 84 of the people are concerned about inflation; 67 say they have been hurt by it; 73 say they are no better off than they were a year ago, and 61 have changed their shopping habits because of rising prices. More people blamed inflation on the government than on any other group. Now is the time to express your feelings on calling a halt to excessive government spending. Let your Representative in Congress know how you feel. His vote in Congress can either feed the fires of inflation to scorch everyone, or help put out the fire. Cutting federal fed-eral spending may be the hardest way, but it will achieve the results we are all seeking. I |
