Show PUBLIC HEARING HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES COUNCIL The Health and Social Services Ser-vices Council will meet In public pub-lic session in the Washington County Courthouse in St. George on Thursday afternoon, after-noon, 1:00 P.M. January 3, 1974. They will be prepared to hear from the public any concerns, questions, comments, com-ments, or dialog about health programs or delivery services. ser-vices. The Health and Social Services Ser-vices Council meets the first Thursday of each month, rotating ro-tating throughout the five counties of the Association of Governments. In each county where the Council is meeting Once a quarter, the whole Council conducts the public hearings: The Rev. John Sloan of Mil-ford Mil-ford is Chairman of the Council , and will chair the hearing. The Health jind Social Ser-vices Ser-vices Council acts as theDis-trict theDis-trict Board of Health, the Dr. Edward Bird is the District Director. It is also the authority author-ity for Mental Health programs, pro-grams, and administers such programs as Aging, Drug and Alcoholism programs, Manpower Man-power programs, and is advisory ad-visory to Family Services. One of the current thrusts of the Council is to develope a district - wide program for the handicapped. Members of the Council met recently with the Govenor's Council for the hanicapped, and an advisory group for, the handicapped is in the process of being appointed. The public is invited to share with the Council their concerns at the public hearing Thursday afternoon, January 3, 1:00 p.m. in the Washington Washing-ton County Courthouse in St. George. The Miner sville School held their Christmas program Thursday night, which was very entertaining to the large crowd attending., Afterwards Santa Claus paid a visit to the children and gave each one a bag of candy. LaRue Thompson is in Salt Lake visiting her children over the holidays. Each class of the MIA held their individual Christmas party Tuesday night at different dif-ferent locations. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Smith and family, Salt Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Frailey are spending Christmas at the home of their parents, Vance and Connie Marshall. The Effie Marshall family enjoyed their regular Christ- . mas party at the school house Saturday evening. Each family had a number on the program. Gifts were exchanged and games were played. Lovely refreshments were served to 75 family members. Neal Hollingshead, Laurie Griffiths, Kendall Eyre, Mitchell Gillins, Doris Hollingshead Hol-lingshead and Duke Hollingshead Hollings-head are all at the homes of their parents for the holidays. Daisy and Karl Gillins attended at-tended funeral services in Mesquite, Nev. on Thursday for Lawrence Fastnn. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Truman left early Saturday morning to join with a BYU group that will be touring Jerusalem for the next 10 days. . Mr. and Mrs. Dan Davis have gone to Blackfoot, Idaho to spend the holidays with their daughter and husband, Don and Peggy Brienholt and family. Mr. and Mrs. Rory Terry and son of Edwards Air Base in Calif, and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Terry, Salt Lake, are spending Christmas with parents, par-ents, Billie and Ranae Davis. Richard Gillins visited one day during the, week with parents, par-ents, Clark and Mary Gillins. The Relief Society held their Christmas party Tuesday in conjunction with their regular meeting. A short program was given. A song was sung by Eleanor Marshall and Anna Rae Carter; reading by Susan Craw; a song by Jetta Larson, Carolyn Maycock, Marilyn Walbeck and, Tamara Payne, with Robyn Goff as accomp-.., anist. Cassie, McKnight is spending spend-ing the holidays with her sisters, sis-ters, Hilda Marshall, Wilma Davis and their families. Wilford and Alvaretta Robinson Rob-inson and Ella Wood went to Lehi Saturday to visit with their children over the holidays. holi-days. Vella Stephenson has gone to Kearns to visit her children, child-ren, Russell and Maurine Kearney and family over the holidays. Before she left she received word that her grandson grand-son Dale was seriously hurt in a one -car rollover. Paula (Marshall) Smith is visiting her parents, Alton and Virginia Marshall, over the holidays. - Mr. and Mrs. David Pryor and family of Calif, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pryor, Farmington, N. M., are visiting visit-ing at the home of Howard and Gwen Pryor for the Christmas holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Jame- . son and son of Bountiful are were 26 family members present.
