The Tigers played Bryce Valley Dec. 26 and results were not available. Next game is with Intermountain Dec. 29 and Beaver on January 4th. Both games are away. . . ,v f : : x . : f : l ? - : Raines has 17 rebounds and seven blocked shots and was all over the floor on defense, besides turning in a credible 18 points for game high. Tait who kept the Tigers on the score during the first half and played some excellent ball in the second half had 15 points ,and would have had two more if Jimmy's big feethadn'tbeat him out of a couple of free-throws. free-throws. Saturday, neither team was particularly impressive in the 75-66 win over Valley. In fact there wasn't anybody on the floor impressive including the officials. ' The Tigers were never pushed and Coach Nielsen substituted sub-stituted freely. Valley lacked Piute's height and Milford dominated the boards. Rain's had 20, Mayerl2andSmithlO. Jimmy blockeff5 shots aiidhad 13 points. Valley's Hoyt was high with 19. Smith has 17, Barnes 14, Workman 13, Miller 8, Tait 4, leaving early when his leg began to bother him; Mayer 3, Hanley 2 and Jones 1. There were plenty of fouls With less than a minute to go the Piute team dunked a field-goal field-goal to go ahead, 56-54 and it looked as if the Tigers who had led most of the game had finally let the Blue Devils have control of the game which never gave either team much edge over the other. But with 33 seconds left Raines wiio had already played play-ed probably his best game of the season, at least before home -town fans, coolly dropped drop-ped two free throws on a one and one to tie the score. Only a few seconds before Tait, who had sparked the team through most of the game, was taken from the game with a knee injury. Tait had 8 of Mil-ford's Mil-ford's 10 points in the 1st quarter, with his first starting assignment this year. With only three seconds left, Mayer on a beautiful assist from Smith, dunked the winning win-ning two points from right under und-er the basket, with no defender even close. The game was evidence that Coach Nielsen's discipline was finally paying off, even though that same disipline was in fact the reason that Steve Workman was not in uniform. Piute was a good team. They deserved respect and got it. Coach Tom Fullmer was able to floor eight men over 6 ft, with his two big boys at 6-4 and two fine little guards. He substituted freely, and seemed to favor none, as the whole Piute team saw plenty of action. The Tiger's jumped off to a two point lead then were down 6 points before they scored again. That was about the biggest big-gest spread of the game, however how-ever , as the Tigers closed the gap to 10-13 at the quarter and lead 28-26 at half time. They attempted to move ahead in the third and fourth, but Piute was determined and kept the game close. Milford hit 23 of 58 for 39 and had 12 of 18 free throws ' A " V; I fi a 'I- "ii if ' (A4 ,f ; 'A I ' r v-v a n -... -a- O ... !; 1 f fU AAA - rtspX5$& A A ' cs - r aa --,iJ - .. .
