Show V t ; i' j .; , Grant Seaman Named To Wildlife Staff The promotion of Ranger j Grant Seaman, of the Beaver ; Ranger District of the Fish- lake National Forest to Range-Wildlife Range-Wildlife Staff 'position on the Humbolt National Forest at I Elko, Nevada, was announced this week by Forest Supervis or's Hanson and Cuskelly of the respective Forests. Mr. Seaman was born in Panguitch, Utah and spent his youth there and in Cader City where his father, Frank Seaman, Sea-man, now retired, spent his career as ranger on the old Powell National Forest and the Dixie National Forests. His father still lives at Cedar City. Having been associated throughout his youth with the Forest Service, Mr. Seaman entered en-tered college at the College of Southern Utah in preparation for another generation career in the Forest Service. He graduated grad-uated from C. S. U. in 1940, and received an appointment as Forest Guard that same year on the Navajo Lake District, Dixie National Forest. Then in 1956 he was promoted to Forest For-est Ranger on the St. George Ranger District on the same Forest. In the fall of 1958 he became Ranger on the Beaver District of the Fishlake Forest where he has since served. When he transferred to the Beaver District, Dis-trict, a brother, Don Seaman was transferred to the Boise Forest as Staff Officer. Ranger Seaman's background, training, experience qualifies him well for his new assignment. assign-ment. He is well qualified to handle range and wildlife since these are major activities he has been associated with on the Dixie and Fishlake Forests. However, he has had special assignments in timber, recreation recre-ation and watershed manage-men manage-men to qualify him for administrative admin-istrative responsibility in multiple mul-tiple use management of the National Forest resources. The transfer will be effective February 5, 1962. Accompanying Accompany-ing Mr. Seaman will be his wife Mary and their children Mitchell 13, John 10, Sallie 7, and Marilyn 4. A daughter, Annette, is attending the University Uni-versity of Utah, and Katherine is in her first year at the College of Southern Utah at Cedar City. |
