Show Bond Election Carries; Hospital to Be Built Plans are progressing for the start of construction of the new Milford Valley hospital in Milford, following overwhelming overwhelm-ing support of a proposal to issue $160,000 in bonds to finance fi-nance construction. Vote in Milford at the special election last Monday was 368 to 76; Minersville voted against the bonds, with 82 to 53; combined vote of the antire service area was 421 to 158. The new hospital will replace re-place the present hospital, which was built in 1923. It is operated by the Milford Valley Val-ley Memorial Hospital Association. Associ-ation. Finances will be handled han-dled by a board of trustees, which includes Russel Mayer, J. C. Smith and Warren Johnson John-son of Milford, and James Eyre and Howard Pryor, Minersville. Min-ersville. Mrs. Virginia Davis, secretary secre-tary of the association, said the group now has more than $13,000 in a special building fund, and with the $160,000 derived de-rived from sale of the bonds, and matching Hill-Burton (federal) (fed-eral) funds, the association will have about $292,000 for the construction and equipping of the new building. |
