Show Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Alba Gillins By Mrs. Albatecn Roberts Funeral services for Mrs. Alba Marshall Gillins, 81, were held Saturday at 2 o'clock in Miners-ville Miners-ville LDS chapel. A host of relatives rela-tives and friends were in attendance. attend-ance. Officiating at the services was Bishop Marshall Hollingshead and the opening prayer was by Clyde Hollingshead of Salt Lake City. Both are sons of Mrs. Gillins's sister, sis-ter, Alta Hollingshead. An inspiring talk was given by Dick Novvers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Nowers of Beaver; and other speakers included Walter Hold-away Hold-away of Provo (by special request of Mrs. Gillins. The obituary was given by Mrs. Phyllis Truman and the closing prayer was offered by Darwin Marshall. Mar-shall. Musical numbers included a vocal vo-cal duet, "In the Garden," by Jan-ette Jan-ette and LaRae Rollins of Cedar City; and vocal solos, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere, by Mrs. Mae Atkin of Beaver, and "That Wonderful Won-derful Mother of Mine," by a son of Mr. and Mrs. Goldie Marshall. Interment took place in Miners-ville Miners-ville Cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by Truman Rollins. Mrs. Alba Marshall Gillins. was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George (Rachel) Marshall and the wife of Heber Gillins, to whom she ws married in the St. George attended the services. The Abert LDS Temple in 1897. They were parents of 11 children, seven boys and four girls. The nine living sons and daughters, with their wives and husbands, 31 grandchildren, grandchil-dren, 30 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends from far and near were present to pay tribute to a wonderful woman. And may I add a few words of personal per-sonal regard: I have lived close by her with my family, have worked with her when she was president of the Relief Society and in activities activi-ties of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. If I wrote a book concerning con-cerning her, it would not tell what I feel and what I think. We people of Minersville will miss her everywhere every-where we go. Though she had been a cripple since she was seven years of age, she always got around and enjoyed life with everyone. ev-eryone. God ibless her! |
