Show .---" THIS WEEK IN BINERSVILLE By MRS. EMILY GILLINS .- Arshol Evans was released from the Milford hospital Friday after being a patient 11 days, receiving treatment for hives and ulcers. His condition is greatly improved. Visiting at the Evans home Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Evans and children, Colleen, Debra, and Douglas, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith of Beaver. Mr. and Mrs Hilton Gillins now have four grandchildren, the newly new-ly acquired daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Clayton having arrived December 11 the same date as another grandchild, Miss Gay Gil-5 Gil-5 lins. A happy surprise expected in the j Gillins family is the arrival of Earl Gillins, who will come home Tuesday Tues-day to spend the holidays. Stationed Sta-tioned at Long Beach with the Navy, he just completed an assignment assign-ment in Alaska. Home for the holidays is Miss Kenna Lou Kelsey, daughter of Mrs. Alta Kelsey, who is attending Henager Business College in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bowcutt and Colleen were here overnight from Elko, Nevada, to keep a dental appointment ap-pointment for Ralph with Dr. Koh- ler. , Mrs. Lucy Williams returned during the week from Bountiful, where she went to be with Mr. and Mrs. Don Heslington while their baby underwent a hernia operation. Dinner guests at the Thurman Eyre home Sunday were Mrs. Ann Eyre and baby Nick, and Miss Jane Law of Beaver. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Jameson returned last week from a visit in Las Vegas with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Har-old Jameson. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Blackburn and Erma Jean returned home Monday from an enjoyable ten-day visit in Denver, Colo., with their children. While there, they got to see the basketball game between the Denver and Chicago Truckers, who played against a team from Russia; also the Russian girls who played the All-American girls team. At Pueblo, they visited the ! Colorado Iron Company. Elma stated there was plenty to see in j a city of 100,000. They returned j home on the Denver & Rio Grande j so they could get to see the Royal j Gorge, which they report was a ! truly wonderful sight. ' Expected soon in Minersville are Mr. and Mrs. Ellis LeFevre of May- belle, Colo., who are coming to take i residence in Minersville in their newly remodeled home. Son Douglas Doug-las has .done most of the work in the home, making it a delightful , place in which to live. We wel- ( come Ellis and Hope most heartily. ( Mr. and Mrs. Victor Myers visit- ( ed in Las Vegas last week with Mr. , and Mrs. Doug Farnow. Visiting at , the Myers home on their arrival were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Myers and family of Cedar City. The Pinochle Club held their Christmas party Wednesday evening eve-ning in the school house. A delicious deli-cious turkey supper was enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gillins, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Karen Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Eyre, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Marshall, Mar-shall, Mr and Mrs. Fay Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Vance Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Garold Eyre, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Eyre, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Marshall, Mr and Mrs. Jeff Marshall, Mar-shall, Mr. and Mrs. Kent Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Carter, Mr. and Mrs. John Williams,. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Myers, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Davis, and Mr. and Mrs, Max Carter. Winning prizes at pinochle were Mrs. Lois Carter, high, and Mrs. Lynnea Mashall, consolation. The high prize for men was won by Jeff Marshall. The committee in charge of the party were Mrs. Virginian, Betty, and Elinor Marshall. Mar-shall. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Myers, Kathallen and Shane, spent several days in Satl Lake City last week. Mrs. Barbara Carter has hit a "lucky streak." She recently won a two-day trip to Las Vegas on the KSUB Summer Vacation contest, and, last week, she received a man's wrist watch in another contest, also sponsored by KSUB, awarded to the person who correctly correct-ly named the winners of the recent re-cent "Grammy" awards. Comments on the Cantata, presented pre-sented Sunday evening, must have been gratifying to Chorister Melba Baker, Organist Elinor Marshall, and members of the choir. Mrs. Ruth Dotson stated, "When they sang 'Silent Night,' it was the thrill of the evening." Mrs. Hilda Marshall said, "It was grand, just grand." Mrs. Emily Dotson, Mrs. Marybelle Eyre, Mrs. Lillian Mc-Knight, Mc-Knight, and Mrs. Loretta Cline and daughter of Milford, all voiced the opinion that it was a wonderful closing for Minersville's Centennial Centen-nial year. Bishop Hollingshead and his counselor, Earl Limb, who conducted the meeting, were high in their praise of the production. As a member of the choir, I know I voice the sentiments of all other members in saying, "It is a thrill to be in this choir, under the able direction of Mrs. Baker." Spencer Stephens, son of Mrs. Darrell Stephens, 2nd grade teacher teach-er at Minersville, -has arrived home after spending six months in active service with the National Guard. He has been stationed at Fort Ord, Calif., and Fort Sill, Okla., where he received mechanized training in the tearing down and rebuilding rebuild-ing of big trucks. He hopes to attend at-tend school in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Bohn were in an automobile accident Monday afternoon on the highway outside of Cedar City, enroute to Modena. Details were not clear, except that the car turned over and Mrs. Bohn was in the Iron County hospital. However, the general feeling is that they were not critically injured. in-jured. G. W. Carter was the guest of honor Wednesday evening when Mrs. Carter prepared a chicken dinner in honor of his birthday. Those enjoying the good cooking of Mrs. Carter were Ty and Ber-nice Ber-nice Gillins, Jack and Evelyn Carter, Car-ter, Calvin and Gay Carter, Sherman Sher-man and Clara Carter, and Fern and Cliff Burbidge. The same group, along with Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gillins, were invited to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gillins recently, to celebrate the birthday of Bernice, who served a delicious ham dinner. Mrs. Alba Gillins, who recently suffered a fall on the back step of her home, in which she injured her legs, had as Sunday visitors Edith Bradfield, Mrs. Joanne Eyre, and Mrs. Dorothy Bowcutt. Mrs. I Gillins is getting along fine, it is reported. |
