Show Forest Ranger Explains Christmas Tree Policy Forest Ranger Grant Seaman announces that Christmas tree cutting cut-ting on the Beaver Ranger district will be limited to a small commercial commer-cial sale. This sale has been issued to the Boy Scouts of troop 322, "Beaver. These trees will be cut under un-der the supervision of local forest officers and from an area where there has been set up a sale plan for bettering the sale area for future fu-ture forest resource production. These trees will be sold by the Scouts for local consumption and local people are urged to purchase their Christmas trees from members mem-bers of the local Boy Scout troop or from a local commercial dealer. In case of demand for individual, personal use, request may be made to local forest officers and these officers will designate an area and a time when local officers will be on the area for making individual use sales. The minimum sale cost will be $1.00 a tree. It will be necessary that prospective buyers have their cash or payments in hand when requesting this type of sale and forest officers will designate desig-nate and tag the trees for individual individu-al personal use only on the days appointed. If requests for individual use sales warrant setting up days for cutting, they will be announced and advertised at a later date. Your forest ranger will appreciate your full cooperation in managing our renewable forest resources. Ranger Seaman reminds vendors that state law requires "each tree offered for sale, sold, or given away, must be tagged to show compliance with the provisions of this act." The law also states, "Any vendor of Christmas" trees will be required to show source of supply, sup-ply, and, for trees native to Utah, the vendor will show legal subdivision, sub-division, the lands from which Christmas trees were cut. For Christmas trees cut from private land, the vendor shall present satisfactory evidence showing legal possession." Ranger Seaman suggests that all purchasers of Christmas trees look for a tag displayed on the tree as evidence that the tree was legally obtained. |
