Show I NBC To Air Legion 'For God and Country' Program on Television The National Broadcasting Co. will air The American Legion's annual "For God ' and Country' telecast, 2:00 to 2:30 p. mp, Sunday, Sun-day, Feb. 1. The nationaify televised pro- J gram will mark the beginning of . the Legion's annual "Religious I Emphasis Week;" Feb. 1-8. Ar- I rangements are also being made for simulcast of the program by major radio networks and an early announcement was expected of radio network plans. 1 Msgr. John J. Twiss, national chaplain of The American Legion, has expressed his deep appreciation apprecia-tion to NBC officials for planning the public service presentation well in advance of the event. Chaplain Twiss stated that he is calling upon all department chap-plains chap-plains of The American Legion to help in building a record viewing audience. Script fop the 30-minute simulcast sim-ulcast is being written by Bruce Bassett of NBC in consultation with Chaplain Twiss and other Legion officials. Theme of the script is to be moral leadership and the part played by the military mili-tary services in building character. char-acter. This is in line with the decision j of the Legion's 1958 Conference of Department Chaplains to place major emphasis on moral leadership leader-ship in the work of American Legion Le-gion chaplains. |
