Show MILFORD SoaIiF - Clubs day for Mrs. Lettit Fothering-ham. Fothering-ham. The Youth Fellowship of the Methodist Church enjoyed a sleigh ride Friday evening, companied by Mrs. Judy Briscoe and Mrs. Alice Baxter. Hot chili and chocolate were served at the Briscoe home. The officers and members o: the Milford American Legion Auxiliary extend thanks to the people of the community foi their splended cooperation in the recent clothing drive foi Hungarian refugees. A total of 475 pounds ot clothes was collected, and the shipment left Milford Wednesday. Mrs. F. A. Bingham arrived home Sunday after spendnig two weeks with her' sons and their families in Seattle, Wash., and Bly, Oregon. Dr. Fred Cottrell of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, was a house guest for four days in the the home of his brother in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs-Joe Mrs-Joe Tribole. Dr. Cottrell was in Milford to visit his mother, who is recuperatng after undergoing under-going surgery n the Milford Hospital. Roy Cottrell of Provo and Mrs. Lee Gray of Salt Lake were also here visiting their mother. I I. Altman spent a week in j Pueblo, Colo., visiting a broth-! er. Mrs. Altman and daughter Lois met Mr. Altman hi Halt Lake Sunday, returning -. -ue Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs.. J. M- Hughes were in .Salt Lake over the week end attending to business and visiting relatives. j Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bedding- field were business visitors in i Salt Lake for several days. 1 Mrs. Joe Cerva and daughter Susan, of Twin Falls, Idaho, spent several days in Milford visiting Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Reese- Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bloom Jr. spent the week end in Las Vegas. Mrs. Gilbert McGinn and Mrs. Dave Morris spent several i days in Salt Lake, and while I there called on Mrs. Clotiel Whittaker. a Mrs. Emma Smith, Mrs. Ar-d.ith Ar-d.ith Outzen and Mrs. Kate McDonald Mc-Donald attended the CSU production pro-duction of Shakespeare plays Saturday night. 9 Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thompson spent a week in Norwalk, Cal., visiting '.'ieir son ir. law ;'nd daughter Mr. and I:. Dtlosj Mollis. j Gary Bingham li.is been assigned as-signed to the USS Laws, as a barber in the supply division. He is stationed at San Diego. Mrs. C E. Turner of Salt Lake was a house guest at the home of her mother, Mrs. Lavern Pat-tr-rson, last week end. She also attended the open house Satur- MRS- LETTY FOTHERING-HAM, FOTHERING-HAM, who has maintained her home in Milford since 1913, celebrated cel-ebrated her 75th birthday Feb. 2nd She was honored at an open house by her immediate family and her brother in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Barton of Beaver; a daughter in law, Mrs- Nina Turner of Salt Lake. ' Her only living aunt, I Mrs. Helen Willden of Beaver, also assisted with the party. More than 100 guests called during the afternoon and evening. eve-ning. Mrs. Fotheringham received re-ceived many birthday greetings and phone calls from her brothers, broth-ers, J. W. Ashworth of Ely, Nev., and Earle Ashworth of Las Vegas. Dainty refreshments w e r e i served, and a large birthday cake and four tall candles were a centerpiece near the gifts. Mrs. Fotheringham's husband, hus-band, Abe Fotheringham, passed away in 1946. She has four living children, Barney, Milford; Mil-ford; Mrs. Margaret Nichols, Alhainbra, Cal.; Mrs. Barbara Martin and Mrs. Mildred Ro-check, Ro-check, Salt Lake; I Mrs Fotheringham is a member mem-ber of the Christian Science Church, the Rebekahs, and the BPW. She has been very active in her church work, and in the community. At present she is librarian at the Milford Library. UTAHNA lodge No. 358 held their regular monthly social, Feb. 1st, in the IOOF hall. Bridge and pinochle were the evening's entertainment, with prizes going to Alma Sly and v Margaret Lund at bridge, and Marjorie Harton and Ann Bird at pinochle. Mrs- Bird . also won the raffle. Hostesses were Faye Thompson, Thomp-son, Merlin Merryweather and Jerry Memmott, who served a delicious lunch. Other members present were Christy Lyman, Kate McDonald, Lucille Raines, Virginia Fowles, Ethel Smith, Magdalena White, Eva Banks, Virginia Grimes, Maurine Miller, Mil-ler, Afton Nelson, Phyllis Erick-son Erick-son and LVera Meeker. MEMBERS of Scgo Lily Division Di-vision No. 500 of the GIA to B of L E spent a lovely evening Feb. 4 in the James P. Holm residence. A two-course lunch-eon lunch-eon was served by Wanda Holm and Catherine Shingleton, hostesses. host-esses. Marvel Connell was an honored guest and presented with a beautiful piece of luggage lug-gage from the GIA and the Past President's Parlor. Her husband is retiring from the railroad, Feb. 8th. LaVera Meeker, daughter of Mrs. Connell, Con-nell, was .an invited guest. President Margaret Lund conducted a short business meeting and the rest of the evening was spent playing bridge. Prizes were won by . . Garnetta Mollis, Lois Moore, Lavera Meeker the house prize and Kate drew the raffle. Other members present were Freda Smith, Magdanela White, Garnet Garfield, Eva Banks, Virginia Fowles, Betty Hardy, Florence Barnes and Ethel Smith- THE . ROSARIANS of St. Bridget's Church met Feb. 4 at the home of Mrs. John Hanley. Mrs. A. A. Brinkman, president, presi-dent, conducted the meeting. Routine business was discussed dis-cussed and tentative plans made for the annual St. Patrick's Day dinner. As the day falls on Sunday, Sun-day, the dinner will oe served March 16 in St. Bridget's hall. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Pat Broskowski, hostess for the evening. THE FRIDAY NIGHT Bridge club met at the home of Mrs- S. E. Pitchforth, Feb- 1. Refreseh-ments Refreseh-ments were served and the rest of the evening was spent playing play-ing bridge. Mrs. William Morris, Mor-ris, Mrs. Hazel Baxter and Mrs. Joe Rickerson won prizes. MIKE SYMOj celebrated his ninth birthda Feb. 2nd with a lunch served at his home, followed by a theater party. Twenty liUle friends were present to wish him a happy birthday. Mike received many nice cards and gifts- MRS. MARVEL CONNELL entertained her bridge club Feb. 1st Prizes were won by Mrs. Wanda Holm, Mrs. Catherine Shingleton and Mrs. Phyllis Symond. A lovely dessert and coffee were served by the hostess. host-ess. Other members present were Mrs. Garnet Garfield, Mrs. Flo Barnes, Mrs. Garnetta Hollis and Mrs- Ruby James. Mr. and Mrs. Ben H. (Sonny) Briscoe left last week for Wolf point, Mont., where Mr. Briscoe plans to manage the airport in that city. J |
