Downs in Front By Keith Downs Weber's battling Wildcats will invade Compton College of California tomorrow night. Compton will be heavily favored over the Weber crew. With Dick Faulkner's throwing arm loose, and Charles Kaloni's knee injury better, the "Cats" should hand Compton fans a surprise. A week later Weber will meet John Muir College. Playing these teams isn't an ideal California vacation for the boys. Intramural teams are showing good form this year. Sigma's 36-0 trouncing of Excelsior might have set some sort of intramural scoring record. Glen McEntire caught five touchdown passes during the game for scoring honors. Mac must have webbed fingers. Scoring Records Speaking of scoring records, the most lopsided football game in the records was played in 1916. Georgia Tech defeated Cumberland College 220-0. George Allen, a former commissioner of Washington, D. C, admits he quarterbacked the Cumberland team. Allen has a clipping of the game which reads, "Allen spearheaded the Cumberland offensive with a brilliant run around left end that only resulted in a eight yard loss." He tackled one Tech man on the thirty-yard line and hung on his neck all the way to the goal line. ' 4 ' I- - - " " " I " j ' i - . . ... ' r v i ' ; I L Way Students on To California A good number of Weber rooters are making the trip to California with the team this week and preparations are nearly complete for the departing of nearly 100 Weber students. Among the most unique ideas was the clever way in which the Whip Club gathered finances. Shoe shine stands were distributed over the entire campus and the girls polished up the shoes for ten cents a pair. It is rumored along the boys lounge (that spot between President Dixon's home and the Central building) that the girls really made a "haul". Along with the Whip girls the colorful Weber college band will make the long track toi Southern California to yell and play at the two Weber encounters against Compton and John Muir. Band Leader Delmar Dixon has worked out several marching drills for the band to do during the half time activitites. The drill was displayed at Weber's last home football game and all of the fans who were present were heard to say how much they enjoyed the colorful spectacle. Boise College, mighty behemoth of the gridiron in the Intermountain area for several seasons, holds the distinction o'f being the only squad to turn back the roaring Wildcats. Driving rain and a sloppy field made a big difference in the type of game the Weberites usually display. Passes were scarce and fumbles plentiful as the Broncoes bucked our 8-0 victory. Compton will furnish the clash for the Wildcats tomorrow night on the Compton field. Coach Tay Brown has viewed several scrimmages carefully and he has picked out a strong fighting aggregation to take the field against Weber.
