Show Rich Apex Ore. W. W. Old, of the St. George Copper Mining & Smelting Co., accompanied by his sou, arrived in this city from Salt Lake Wednesday night. Mr. Old is delighted with the smelter and says it is running ;lt the rate of thirty-five tons daily, from 5 p. m. Thursday to 5 p. m. Friday four tons of bullion were turned out. A double-compartment shaft was recently completed at the mine, and with the new whim working successfully Mr. Old looks for a greatly increased output of ore; the first seven hours the whim worked it brought twenty-eight tons of ore out of the mine. By about July 1st. Mr. Old expects ex-pects the mines to be getting out some very rich ore: there is a very large body of it and it averages 65 per cent copper; probably the richest ore in the West. Mr. Old left for the mine this morning and expects to return Wednesday. Wed-nesday. His stav here will ho nim( ten days. , |
