Mr. Stewart was seen by a repre -en t:'.; r,-.' of this paper, owl when asked concerning the rumored bond on the Key West, stated that Xew York people had taken hold of the property under an agreement to work it continuously con-tinuously until e-5. 000 worth of development develop-ment work had been done, with tho option of purchase. Mr. Stewart did not care to make known the purchase price. Fifteen men arc now at work on the property, sinking a double compartment com-partment shaft to the depth of 2.10 feet. A steam hoist has been put in and a large whim, preparatory to commencing commenc-ing work on a large scale. Mr. Stewart has been developing this property for throe years, and said that between 800 and 900 feet of work had been done. He estimates that $300,000 worth of ore in the crude has been blocked out. "The body of ore," said Mr. Stewart, "is immense." "The New York people calculate to erect a smelting plant of 200 tons capacity on the ground; there is plenty of water." When asked which way the ore or bullion would be shipped, Mr. Stewart replied "via Mo-dena," Mo-dena," Tho mine is fourteen miles south southeast of Bunkcrville. Mr. Stewart is waiting hero to meet Henry S. Maekay, of Boston, who is expected in tomorrow. They will then proceed to the mine Monday. |
