Show ROW IN JAMAICA. Governor and Representatives Fall to Reach a Compromise. Kingston, Jamaica, April 7. Sir Augustus Au-gustus Hemming, the governor, and the representatives have failed to reach the hoped-for compromise on the critical criti-cal issues that have been pending for several weeks. The governor declines to withdraw the additional official members, therefore the tariff bill was forced through. The representatives then entered a unanimous protest, and it is thought that they will favor the movement to join the Leeward islands, and to demand aunexation to the United States. Thus far no sensational sensation-al popular demonstrations against the government's attitude are reported. |
