As a result, of a thorough consideration considera-tion of the subject by the secretary of war, Lieutenant -General Miles and Adjutant-General Corbin, orders have been issued by the war department for the li'spateh of (i.254 regular troops to the Philippines, with a view of utilization utiliza-tion in China if it is found necessary to send them to that country. The force is made up of two battal-ions battal-ions eael of the Fifteenth, Secoud, Iifth aml Eighth infantry, two squadrons squad-rons each of the First and Ninth cav-airy, cav-airy, one squadron of the Third cav-airy cav-airy and a company of engineers. These troops will be forwarded as rapidly as transportation arrangements arrange-ments can be perfected, and the entire fleet of transports at San Franyisco and New York will be employed iu the work. |
