Show FROM TEXAS. ' EI.I.ER C. G. Y. JIKitilXS YVU1TKS OF ITIS EXPTJ1IIEN-CES. Eritor, Xews: I acknowledge, with thanl.-s, the receipt of our home paper up to date, but owing to the inefficient mail system of this city I did not re-ceiv-j a copy until about six weeks ago. TliJr. News is indeed a welcome visitor to our field, and comes like a breeze from its, our, ''Mountain home," cheering cheer-ing the heart and cooling the brow of ' lie heated laborer, and is as anxiously looked for and as eagerly perused as a letter from the "sweet one." It also awakens feelings of anxiety anx-iety for the people of southern Utah to note the threatened drought in that viei.iity, but I trust that "God will provide." Spring is opening here. Some of the earliest fruit trees have been blooming for o bout ten days. This country is also al-so threatened with drought. If rain does not come within another month crops will be a total failure, as the people peo-ple depend entirely upon rain to mature their crops. The work of the Lord is progressing rapidly in this section. We held our semiannual conference on the 15th and 16th of this month near Royse, Rockwall Rock-wall county. There are fifteen elders laboring in this conference, all of whom were present and enjoying good health exe.-pt Elder Charles Webb, who was suf ering somewhat from chills. Preside Pres-ide :il William T. Jack was with us and gave us some very valuable instructions instruct-ions in regard to our mission work, and the preservation of our health during the hot summer months. He bore a powerful testimony to the divinity of tin work in which we are engaged. PC' Saints and elders left conference filled with the spirit of the Lord and a greater determination to press to the front of the fight and win a crown filled with shining jewels, which they have been instrumented in searching out as "Diamonds in the rough." Elder Chas. G. Higgixs. Dallas, Texas, March 24, 1899. |
