Harder paid a visit to this city from Grass Valley Wednesday on business connected with the Canaan ranch. The Washington Mill Co. is giving 200 pounds of Flour as a special prem ium to the Fair, and also $10. for the best display of cereals. John Scowcroft & Sons of Ogden have given 100 pounds of the famous Fuji Tea as a special premium to the Washington County Fair. A postoffice has been established at Wheeler, Washington Co., Utah, with "'"with Susannah C Bail, postmaster. Washington Cor. Tribune. Dinwoody & Co , the Salt Lake city furniture house, has given one of the celebrated Stirling Washers as aspecial premium for the coming County Fair., Urie Macfarlane and wife expect to leave for Pine Valley today. Mr. Macfarlane is under the weather, and the change will it is hoped do him good. Pres. Erastus B. Snow has rock on the ground to build a foundation round his residence lots, upon which will be erected a very neat wire picket fence. Mrs. Lottie Dodge, of Toquerville, who Is very ill at the home Of her mother, Dr. Agnes Thompson of this city, is in a critical condition with Bright's disease. Alma Nelson arrived here from Salt Lake city Tuesdav evening and expects to remain about two months visiting. Alma's many friends are pleased to see him home again. DIED Jessie, the four-months-old daughthr of Malcolm and Bessie Pymm, on the 9th inst. after a short illness with throat trouble. The parents par-ents have the sympathy of the community com-munity in their affliction. Hewlett Bros, have offered a gold medal as a premium to the prettiest girl under 21 at the County Fair. There has been a regular epidemic of colds the past few days, induced no doubt by people overheated cooling themselves too hurridly by sitting in eool draughts. Great care should be exercised when very warm not to get chilled suddenly. E. E. Branch and wife of Wellington, Carbon county, arrived here for a visit Monday evening. They were formerly r . s'ulents of this city, Mr. Branch being be-ing a brother of Mrs. Geo. Brooks and Mrs. Brig. Lund, while Mrs. Branch is a daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Blake. W. D. Newton uf Silver Reef was in this city Wednesday. Mr. Newton says that the mines of Silver Reef are looking better than at any time during the past nine years, and that the Bar-bee Bar-bee mill is running nicely, ;he new T.icfulle wheel working to perfection. |
