Show LEEDS. Our 24th of July wae very quiet, no rowdyism of any kind on our streets. Memorial services were held Sunday in honor of the' men who lost their lives in the Maine disaster. At the conclusion conclus-ion of the meeting a collection from the people present was taken up, to assist as-sist in the erection of a monument to the Maine martyers. $12 was collected and promptly forwarded, as per directions. direct-ions. This, we think, is not a bad showing, when we take into consideration considera-tion that so many of our people are from home attending the M. I. A! Conference Confer-ence at Panguitch lake. We will say, however, that all who liberally subscribed sub-scribed of their means were not at the meeting, an invitation was sent to them that they might also have a chance to do their part, which they did with the above result. Weather hot and dry. Our water is failing fast. B. M. Leeds, Utah; July 27, 1898. |
