Show MRS BIBS FENEST TYPE TITE OF PIONEER in the passing of mrs francis woodhouse whose death at the ripe age of nearly 81 years occurred at the home of her daughter mrs hans von hagen on friday morning this valley lost one of its finest types of the early pioneer women whose endurance of the hardships encounter ed hera here in the opening up of this country and whose labors are only evaded by those of the husbands husband and fathers whom they followed west ward frances amanda ward was born on april 12 1840 at mendham new jersey where she spent most of her early life until she came west in 1884 with her husband james woodhouse whom she married on february 14 1858 the couple with four of their six children settled on the dallas and it vas as in that rough early country mrs woodhouse lived most of her mature life and on which she left the deepest impress of her earnest courageous acelie Christ christian lan character there was no church on the dallas in those days so after settling there mrs woodhouse Wood bouse organized a sunday school alch met every sabbath morning in her dining room about the year 1888 the dallas church was built through the ln in it of mrs woodhouse Wood housa who raised money tor for it largely among relatives lies and friends in the east these same friends furnished the supplies and the library and helped keep the little church alive tor years it wag was nonsectarian non sectarian and ministers of most of the protestant prote slant denominations have filled its pulpit during the decades that it has stood a worthy monument to one brave womans comans love of god and humanity in 1906 the woodhouse Wood bouse property at dallas was sold and mr woodhouse and his wife moved to mont monte rose where in 1907 he died sincer since then mrs woodhouse Wood bouse has alternated her time with her children spen spending dlug most of her days with her daughters mrs A U smith of ouray and mrs hans von hagen of M montrose mrs ira woodhouse was the eldest oldest child in a family of IS 13 and she herself had six children of whom five survive t her these children aro are m mrs rs A U smith ouray frank H leonard mrs anna jacobus deceased edmund edmun d P of pine pizza bluff california albert L of st george utah mrs hans von hagen of montrose she is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 11 great 9 grandchildren rand children montrose colo enterprise born a eon son to mr ur and mrs webb at monticello utah jan 28 glenn a BOH son of mr and I 1 mrs ira william webb of this city is instructor in ausia t W |
