Show nepal robert fawcett born in york yorkshire england march 12 1841 died at st george utah march 23 old age and general debility he was afflicted with a cancer on the left cheek bone from which he suffered quite badly the last year his parents were william fawcett and jane corner smith fawcett he was born in the L D S church and came to america with his parents in 1843 when he was but 14 months old they lived at nauvoo and other places in missouri until 1850 when his parents moved to salt lake city liv las over jordan at first but moving later to the sixth ward where they lived tor ten years he came to st george when bis father wm fawcett and family was called to the dixie mission in 1861 they were with the first families to come into the valley making their temporary camp out where the adoba yard Is now he waa called on a mission and in company with john B pace and others lourn led to salt lake city by ox team where they were set apart tor the british mission they went east by mule team taking their turn standing guard at night they landed in liverpool england where deceased was assigned to the bed ford conference and later was changed to the sheffield conference he suffered from pleurisy resy and a very severe attack of smallpox while on his mission the kattef leaving his face very badly pitted he converted several souls but finally bad to be released after nearly two years work due to ill health while on the galling vessel coming home he met ruth orchid who later became his wife they were married in the endowment house at salt lake city saturday sept 26 1868 and left the following monday tor bt george in 1869 he was called to go and help settle He berville later changed to price he was counselor to robert gardner until bro gardner left price he was then made bishop and served in that capacity until that ward vas made a part of the st george west ward he made a trip with ox team to the missouri river for saints helped to build the st george tabernacle and worked on and stood guard over the st george temple one summer he in company with brigham jarvis found what Is now the apex mine in 1887 he married marmora carpenter and moved to bloomington where he lived until he moved with that family to berry springs and later to hurricane bench where be was taken sick and was moved to st george where the end came he is survived by ono brother george living at lund nevada and two sisters mrs hannah F nixon ot st george and mrs deseret eyring of snowflake ariz also by two ches ruth 0 fawcett and marmora C fawcett 12 children seven boya and five girls william A albert 0 fredrick Fredr lck N robert susie J atkaln of st george and luella N wilkinson Wl lkinson of hurricane of the first marriage and robert melvin mrs delia howel and mrs fern honel ot hurricane bench mrs marlo graybill of st george and arthur fawcett of bloomington also 44 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren funeral services were held in the tabernacle thursday march 24 at 3 p m bishop james mcarthur taking charge was furnished by the west waid choir singing rock of ages prayer was offered by elder william gardner singing only 0 little while the speakers were elders john E pace W G miles pres david H cannon and brigham jarvia singing heavenly treasure prayer by bp frank G miles the grave was dedicated by L J larson of bloomington elder paco spoke of him as a true friend and a splendid companion while in the mission field very earnest and sincere a true and faithful latter day saint brother miles spoke of him as a natural leader of men an inoffensive kind and lovable husband and father brother cannon bloke of him as fulfilling all the commandments command meats of aoa ho un deri tood teem |
