Show home paper gives first news grays death germany dec 28 1918 mr joseph S worthen st george utah dear father ond all just a few lines to let you know I 1 am well and hope you are all the same we have bad some bad weather here the last two weeks and it is still raining I 1 have not seen the sun tor BO long I 1 have almost forgotten what it looks like we are within six miles of coblenz germany and it is a city of about two hundred thousand people but we haven t had a chance to go there yet you can find coblenz on the map and tell where we are I 1 have traveled very near all over france and on our way here we went through belgium and luxemburg and this far into germany I 1 have seen quite a lot of this country more than I 1 want to see again we can always say we followed the germans back through their own country and that will be worth quite a lot to look back upon now the fight Is over I 1 want to sail tor the old U S A and believe me I 1 am not alone pa that was sad about wallace gray getting killed I 1 saw it in the home paper his division was with us at ane front bual never did get to see any of those boys for everybody was too busy to be looking around much when we were in action I 1 wish I 1 could have been home tor xmas dinner but you know how U Is miles from home but we had a nice dinner and a good picture show at night so we were treated pretty good I 1 have been looking tor my xmas box or a week but it coma yet it will come in handy when it does get here for I 1 am candy hungry the regiment that I 1 left in the states came to france soon after I 1 did and I 1 heard today that they were on back again they get out of the training camp so all they got to see was france they go to the front at alii they are lucky going back this soon it ought to be very long before we are on our way back the three divisions that are in germany are the ones that were in some of the hardest part of the fighting BO I 1 think they ought to go back among the first well pa I 1 have told you all the news I 1 will close with love to all As ever your loving son pat robert worthen B battery lath F A A E F |
