Show keep our pledge A circular letter has been sent to all local W S S committees throughout the county by the central committee a copy of which follows st george utah nov 14 1918 to the war savings stamps executive committee gentlemen we have just received a telegram from state chairman colllns notifying us that the signing of the armistice must in no way interfere with the war savings campaign that the government expects every citizen to fully live up to his pledge and buy every stamp that he has promised to buy and further that there will be very little decre lie in the expenses of the government tor military purposes tor some time to come washington county was one of the first counties in the state to go over the top in pledging the amounts that were asked for in this great drive this was a splendid showing for which we are all very grateful with a people whose pledge Is as good as gold there can bo no doubt about our going over the top in the buying the people of washington county have spent nearly tor stamps up to date there are only eight counties in the state that have bought a larger percentage of their allotment than has washington we have about 35 worth of stamps yet to buy these stamps are to be purchased by the end of the year this means that we are to spend on an average of 70 each day tor stamps from now till december 31 fighting has stopped sooner than many of us expected it seems that peace liberty and freedom are coming to the civilized world the greatest of all blessings to all mankind wah little or no sacrifice on our part our suffering has been as nothing compared with that ot our allies our loss in blood has been exceedingly small individually our money Is but loaned it will all come back and more too we hope you aa a committee know just where the people ot your ward or division stand in the matter of their pledges it you are over the top all well and good if not check up with all individuals who are behind and urge them to i purchase stamps as promised the central committee may call upon you any time after the ast 1st of december tor a list of those who are behind our publicity committee may make use of this list but it it does our aim will be to deal no person an injustice for all that we expect and all the government expects la that every one shall do his full duty we are looking to you with the same hope and assurance that we had at the time you were selected to do this important work we expect you to see to it that your division Is per cent genuine in the fulfillment fulfilment of pledges in this important campaign that the county may maintain its splendid position in a cause so worthy let us know it we can be ot any help to ou locally yours for purchasing all stamps promised W 0 bentley jr jos S snow john R wallis david R forsha central A L woodhouse committee george R lund albert E miller |
