Show pineIalley Mrs. Elizabeth Beckstrom Reporter Gerald E. Malchus returned to Long Beach on Monday, where he is employed in the shipyards, after spending the past three weeks with his family at their summer home here. Reuben Gardner was rushed to the McGregor hospital early last Monday morning on account of a recurrence of a chronic illness. He is reported to be improving. Mr. and Mrs. Clawson Burgess and family spent Sunday in St. George with relatives. They were accompanied by M i s s Cherrill Snow. All the townspeople united on Friday evening in entertaining at a farewell party in honor of Marion Mar-ion Beckstrom, who left the following fol-lowing day to enter the U. S. Army. The party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Irwin H. Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Ralston Barber left on Friday for Las Vegas, where they will remain indefinitely, indefin-itely, as the former has employment employ-ment there. Prof, and Mrs. E. J. Bleak will care for the Barber's interests here during their absence. ab-sence. Dr. and Mrs. Rodney H. Snow and son, Jim. of Santa Monica, Calif., spent Saturday night here as guests of their mother, Mrs. Effie Snow, while enroute to Provo, to get their daughter, Dorothy, Dor-othy, who is completing her freshman fresh-man year at the B. Y. U. Mr. and Mrs. Horace McArthur of Los Angeles arrived here on Monday, where they will spend their vacation at the Dr. L. W. McGregor home in the canyon. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. George Snow, who spent a day with them here. Bishop W. M. Cox and. his counselor, I. H. Johnson, attended conference in St. George on Sunday. Sun-day. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Higbee of Pinto, were business visitors here on Sunday. Mrs. Vere Beckstrom spent the week end in St. George, where she went to meet her brother, Dr. Rodney H. Snow of Santa Monica, Mon-ica, Calif., to receive medical aid. Mrs. Rex Gardner was called to St. George on Saturday on account ac-count of the serious illnes of her father, George F. Whitehead. She returned on Monday, when his condition was improved. Miss Bessie Snow returned on Tuesday from the Willard Jones ranch near Newcastle, where she spent two days visiting relatives. Mrs. Earl Church and children returned to St. George on Friday, after visiting here a week with her brothers, Gordon and Marion Beckstrom. Mrs. Earl J. Bleak and Mrs. Ralston Barber entertained at a birthday party at the home of the latter, in honor of their aunt, Mrs. Margaret . Calkins, the occasion oc-casion being her 75th birthday anniversary. Mrs. Erastus Gardner and children, child-ren, Dean and Lois, left Monday for' Provo to attend the graduation exercises of her daughter, Maur-ine, Maur-ine, .who will receive her Bachelor's Bach-elor's Degree there on June 10th. |
