Show Salesmanship Stressed In Class Sponsored , By School and C. of C. Covering the third of four sessions ses-sions in training in salesmanship presented by the Dixie junior college, col-lege, in cooperation with the St. George Chamber of Commerce and the Utah State Board for Vo-c Vo-c a t i o n a 1 Education, Instructor Winder launched the ideas of knowing the material facts concerning con-cerning the wares they sell, and the directions and courtesy in meeting customers and giving them full value. He stressed also the , value of teaching salesmen and women the value of the materials they sell, and of being able to give proper information on each item, plus the need of teaching or training the entire public to appreciate the fact that merchandise is actually money, that time is actually money, and that both are as valuable val-uable to both consumer and to merchant as are the dollars which they bring; that when the entire program is worked out, the actual returns from the sale of merchandise mer-chandise is comparatively low, and the waste of single items can materially ma-terially cut down the profits essential es-sential to building up business. Mr. Winder also gave individual examples where the lack of correct cor-rect information with respect to such items as celanese rayons can cause the loss of the fabric, where correct information can preserve the fabric. An added item on the program was the discussion of some questions ques-tions that must be answered by the individual who is in an entirely en-tirely different type salesmanship, that of selling the stories of a city or state to the tourists so they will carry the word to their friends and bring more and more tourists to this area. This phase of the program was given by Mabel Jarvis who is hostess at the McQuarrie Memorial hall and a missionary at the Temple bureau. bur-eau. The thought was expressed that every salesman can draw from the purchasers, or the tourists, tour-ists, the wealth of material that will increase his or her capacity to make genuine sales. ' The concluding meeting will be held Monday evening at the county library. |
