Show Victory Scrap Drive How Underway Here County's Quota Set At 490 Tons; Full Support Is Asked By K. M. REBER County Salvage Chairman The War Production Board has started an all-out Victory Scrap drive for iron and steel scrap. The reason for this new drive is because consuming steel mills, and supplies have on hand an inventor.' in-ventor.' of about 7 million tons, which is only a two-month's supply; sup-ply; and now that military events are beginning to overwhelm the enemy, we need more than ever to make sure our fighting units have everything they need to finish fin-ish the job, and finish it at the first possible moment. The Victory Vic-tory Scrap drive is an important step in this direction. Drive Starts Immediately The drive starts immediately and extends through Nov. 15, and Washington county's quota is 490 tons. Although the heavier grades of scrap from farms and industrial sources, primarily are used, all grades are usable, except very light material, such as old car bodies. Everyone is urgently needed to get behind the new drive, and help Washington county go over the top. Anyone having scrap or knowing know-ing the whereabouts of any, please contact your local scrap dealer, or anyone of the following committee com-mittee members : Claud Hirschi, Hurricane; Lawrence Kleinman, Toquerville; Israel Neilson, Washington; Wash-ington; Harvey Stucki, Santa Clara; Arthur Jones, Enterprise; and Arthur Paxman, St. George. The Office of Defense Transportation Trans-portation has agreed to allow supplemental sup-plemental gas to operators of commercial com-mercial vehicles who use their trucks in picking up scrap. |
