Show JOSEPH SYLVESTER DIES SUNDAY AT HOME IN FINTURA The death of Joseph Sylvester, 84, Sunday noon, Dec. 2, at his home in Pintura, marks the passing pas-sing of one of the most colorful freighters and hack drivers of Silver Reef and early Dixie history. his-tory. He died of heart attack while dressing to attend church in Toquerville. Born, Sept. 9, 1S61 in Spring-ville, Spring-ville, Utah, he was a son of James and Rebecca Nicholson Sylvester, Syl-vester, early Utah pioneers, who moved to the Dixie mission when he was a small child, settling at Pintura, then known as Bellview,. where he had his schooling and learned at an early age the handling hand-ling of horses and livestock. Surviving are three sons, Frank Sylvester of Salt Lake City, Victor Vic-tor Sylvester, Hurricane, and La-Vell La-Vell Sylvester, Pintura; four daughters Mrs. Winnie Leeds, Los Angeles; Mrs. A. W. Gregerson, St. George, Mrs. Andrew Olds, Toquerville, and Mrs. Jane Mun-ford Mun-ford Cedar City;, two stepsons, Wallace Stewart, Las Vegas; Sam Stewart, Rigby, Idaho; two stepdaughters, step-daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Sherrett Cedar City, and Mrs. Mary Beatty, Pintura; 37 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Toquerville ward chapel Wednesday Wed-nesday Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. with Bp. LeGrancie Spilsbury conducting-Burial conducting-Burial was in Toquervile |
