Epperson of the Kays-ville Kays-ville Weekly Reflex has been touring California, and writes for his paper his impressions of that state and makes comparisons that are decidedly decided-ly favo v.A)le to Utah. The concluding-paragraph of his article follows: '" "In the valleys of Utah we have a finer summer climate, more fertile soil and grow better and larger crops to the acre; our fruits are more delicious de-licious and flowers more fragrant; our mountains more- beautiful and our sunsets more splendid. We have coal, copper and iron sufficient to' supply the world ; we have water power undeveloped sufficient for a million horse power, yet our state, through which passes the pathway to tlris. city of a million, has only about one-third of its population and $200,-000,000 $200,-000,000 less 'i assessed valuation. Utah, with most of the elements of modern wealth within her boundaries, bound-aries, must invite men with money to come and assist in the development of her recources. Los Angeles has invited in-vited the world to come within her gates and when they come she greets them with a smile and furnishes them with every form of entertainment. entertain-ment. She keeps both her front and back yard cleaned up, greets them with a smile, talks and looks prosperity pros-perity and happiness, and invites her guest tcjbuy a. few lots and make his everlasting fortune. She looks so good and smiles so sweetly that one in every ten is said to invest and finally fin-ally becomes so infatuated with the constant song of prosperity that he makes his home there and if he is a real fellow joins with the eleven thousand who form the membership of the"chamber of commerce and help to blow up the balloon. "Why, can't the valley of the Great Salt Lagje pattern after southern.Cali-fornia southern.Cali-fornia and prosper and grow as she has prospered and grown?" |
