Show TlRGIN Minerva Earl Reporter The ward bishopric gave a free opening dance in the open-air pavilion pa-vilion recreation hall adjoining the church. The occasion celebrated I the completion of the remodeling and redecoration of the church building. A large crowd attended, with Ray Owens' orchestra furnishing furn-ishing the music. Dances are scheduled for every Saturday night during the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Daugh-erty Daugh-erty of Hines, Calif., and Mrs. Daugherty's sister, Mrs. Emma Posey of Safford, Ariz., were here to attend the opening church dance at Virgin. Mrs. Daugherty was a former resident and gave much of her time and musical talent to the community, teaching in various church organizations. Sylvester Earl and Mr. and Mrs Jack Schofield have returned from Las Vegas where they spent a week visiting with Mr. Schofield's parents. Pfc. Willis Matthews spent four days home last week on furlough from Camp Carson, Colo. A party was given for him Saturday night. He left for camp Sunday. Mrs. Thomas H. Semmens returned re-turned Sunday from Medford, Ore., where she has spent the past seven months with her husband, hus-band, Cpl. Semmens, who has been transferred to Fort Benning, Ga., to attend the military radio school. Mrs. Thelma Wilcox and children, child-ren, Mrs. Yvonne Wilcox and Mrs. Zalia Flanigan were business visitors vis-itors in St. George Monday. Vernon Wilcox, his sister, Joyce, and Miss Delora Spendlove have returned home from a four-day visit in Hollywood with Mr. and Mrs. Bertram Ruesch and family. Mrs. Lee Wilcox and son, Dennis, Den-nis, left June 22nd for New Orleans, La., to join her husband, who is stationed there on military dutv. |
