Show Leeds CCC Boys Praised For Work At Fire Appreciation is expressed by both Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Anderson and the county sheriff's office for the assistance given by the officers and men of the Leed's CCC camp in fighting the fire at the B. F. Anderson Home of the Aged on last Thursday. The fire started about 3:15 p.m., and is thought to have started by sparks from the chimney falling on the roof. A strong north wind severely hindered the work of the camp boys as well as an adequate water supply. Ned Wright of Hurricane carried car-ried the six bedfast patients to safety and of the household furnishings, furn-ishings, only 3 mattresses, 2 quilts and sheets and one rocking chair were saved. The patients were taken in CCC trucks to the home of Mrs. Emma Naegle in Toquer-ville. Toquer-ville. Sheriff Prince brought two patients to St. George where they were cared for. Mr. Anderson is preparing one of his houses which is across the highway from his former home and will soon be able to have the patients returned there. |
