Show 4-H "MAYOR" WINS i 1 UTAH'S champion 4-H livestock club member for 1941 Is Monte Veater, 18, of Spry. Chosen by Assistant As-sistant Club Leader David Sharp Jr. for his six year record, the boy handled 7 baby beeves, 18 hogs, and 11 dairy cattle. Cash prizes were 511.85, and total income $1,793.24 Among many honors received, the boy showed the grand champion steer and was named champion showman at the county stock show. With a teammate he won at the State Fair with a demonstration on fitting and showing beef cattle. His steer placed at the Junior Fat Stock Show at North Salt Lake, and Monte was elected "Mayor of Show Town." As state winner in the annual Thomas E. Wilson meat animal contest, he wins a 17-jewel gold watch. The contest Is conducted In cooperation with the extension service. |
