Show Coach Snyder's Boys Give Promise of Developing Info Strongest Basketball Team In Enterprises History (Editor's Note: Believing that the Dixie district basketball race will be one of the most interesting in years due to the fact that nearly all of the schools will have better than normal teams, the Editor has written to the various coaches of the district for information about their teams, with the idea of publishing pub-lishing short stories about each team. The following is the first of the series.) That Enterprise will have one of its best teams in years is the opinion expressed by all those who know their basketball and who are familiar with the material that Coach Theron Snyder will have to work with this year. In their opening practice game with Milford they beat the Milford team 32 to 53, showing that they have a lot of scoring power when it gets underway. This game was played on Dec. 4th and on Dec. 5th they played Virgin Valley and romped to an easy 26-39 victory. Both of these games were played at Enterprise. Out of his squad of 11 men Coach Snyder has 6 seniors. Of this group Sherwin Adams, Howard How-ard Drake, Paul Alger and Wayne Holt played as regulars last year. A. Hunt and Clayton Farns-worth, Farns-worth, both juniors, saw considerable consid-erable action last year and probably prob-ably will see plenty of action this year. I. Hunt, S. Holt and Lloyd Harter are said to be showing steady improvement and should participate in a number of games j this year. Garnald Sperry is said , to be improving very rapidly and may see a lot of action this year, j Lamar Lund, while a senior, has , not had any previous experience I with the team, and is thus handicapped. handi-capped. j Strongest Teams When questioned about his team Coach Snyder was quite enthusiastic, enthusi-astic, he declared in part: "Beyond a doubt this is the strongest team I have coached at Enterprise. The boys are large and have had considerable experience. experi-ence. We have, this year, the nest reserve strength we have ever had. However, we do not expect to take first, or second, in the division di-vision this year. "Although there has been little chance to compare teams this early in the season, Hurricane and Cedar should rank first and second, sec-ond, with Kanab, St. George and Enterprise on down the line." Enterprise only won four games last year, but her backers think that the te.-im should make a much stronger showing this year. Due to the small number of boys from which to select his players. In consequence it isn't often (hat he gets as many good boys to (Continued on page four) Enterprise Basketball (Continued from first page) coach as he has this year. While Enterprise may end up as far down the line as he predicts, many people of this state still remember remem-ber the time that Minersville took the state championship. At any rate all good sportsmen of this district are pulling for Coach Snyder and his boys and hoping that they have truly outstanding season. Coach Snyder has been at Enterprise En-terprise for the past five years. Before that he coached at Duchesne. Du-chesne. He is a graduate of the B. Y. U.
