Show Funeral Services Held For Jim Little Smoke At Shevwit Cemetery By LYMAN" SMOKEY" Funeral services were held for Little Jim Smoke on Thursday, June 11 at the Indian cemetery at 5 p. m. Little Jim was close to 100 years old. He had been blind and deaf for 25 years. Frank Mustache was the speaker at the services. Little Jim was born in Para-shaunt. Para-shaunt. Ariz., where he was raised on wild -game, seeds and wild vegetables. veg-etables. In his younger days he was engaged in many Indian wars. He carried a bullet wound in his right jaw from one of these battles. bat-tles. He spent his winters down .on the banks of the Colorado with his tribes. He saw the first people come to St. George and was well-known by many people in St. George, especially es-pecially Frank Bentley and Frank Miles. He helped the Whites build the first Washington field dam and ditch. His wife died six years ago. She had three sons. Albert Smoke. Loom Little Smoke and Bullock Little Jim. Bullock, the youngest, died twelve years ago at Las Vegas. Bullock's two sons have been caring for their grandfather since their father's death. |
